SERIES X3 - RD1
Round 1 of the year has just passed, and it was for the Series X3 Championship. Last year, despite missing 1 round due to his broken arm, Angus managed to fight back and claim P15 in the championship, but with a new car, livery and a fire to win, how will that change the outcome of this year’s standings?
QUALIFYING
First up was qualifying, which was a huge success! Angus qualified 3rd in odds and 6th overall! It is the highest position he has ever qualified, making it an amazing start to the day! After a small issue with the car during practice the day before, meaning Angus received less practice time, qualifying demonstrated the pace and determination he had to give.
RACE 1
The first 7 laps saw Angus battle it out with competitors and friends, to push himself up to P5! He was managing to keep pace and closing in on the front runners, but unfortunately experienced multiple brake lock-ups, which dropped him down to P9. Despite the setback during the race, Angus kept his cool and continued to drive to cross the finish line as fast as he could.
RACE 2
This 30-minute endurance-style race gave Angus the opportunity for Angus to have some major battles on track and to push back up to the top of the field. Starting in P9, Angus gained one position up to P8, including many fights and contact with Ashton Clements, which provided him with the true feel of intense racing. That was all the racing done for Saturday; Sunday has three races on the table.
RACE 3
Angus demonstrated great racing in the first race of the day by gaining yet another position to conclude the morning at P7! The continuous climb demonstrates Angus’ determination and drive to be at the top.
RACE 4 + 5
The two final races of the round saw Angus gain and maintain P6, back where he started the weekend! The on-track battles and ultimate close driving experience allowed him to continue to learn new techniques and styles that best suit him on track.
The day ended with Angus receiving the Cam Barthomelew award! An award was handed to only one driver at a round who has demonstrated perfect and admirable qualities in a racer, both on and off the track. Angus’ dedication and passion for racing and motorsport mean he consistently shows these qualities. His next challenge is the mountain, a completely new and unknown opportunity that is filled with both excitement and nerves.
